A Structured Programme for Learning and Practice

At Silk Mandarin Adult Camp, learning Mandarin follows a clear and practical daily structure.

Mornings are dedicated to focused lessons, where you build vocabulary, sentence patterns, and pronunciation step by step in small groups.

Around lunchtime, you head out together to explore the variety of local food — a natural moment to practise what you’ve learned in simple, everyday interactions.

In the afternoon, activities and guided outings help you apply Mandarin in daily situations while experiencing Chinese culture. You practise asking questions, handling small conversations, and navigating new environments with the support of your teachers.

Throughout the day, teachers guide and correct you, helping you build accuracy and confidence through consistent practice.

Learn, Explore, and Experience China

At Silk Mandarin Adult Camp, your days don’t end when the lesson finishes — they open up.

You step outside, into the streets, cafés, and neighbourhoods where the language comes alive. You try new dishes, navigate unfamiliar places, and share small moments that gradually start to feel natural.

Afternoons bring guided outings, cultural experiences, and everyday situations where you interact and take part. Things don’t always go exactly as planned — and that’s where learning happens.

Along the way, you begin to understand more than just the language. You get a feel for how people communicate and how daily life unfolds.

You experience this together with an international group, sharing meals, conversations, and discoveries that turn the programme into something more than a course.

It becomes an intensive and memorable period — one where you make clear progress in Mandarin while fully experiencing life in China.

What You Gain from the Adult Camp

Clear progress in your Mandarin — and the confidence to use it.

During the camp, you don’t just learn new words — you start using Mandarin more actively and more accurately in everyday situations.

You improve your pronunciation, build essential sentence patterns, and expand your vocabulary in a structured way. Step by step, you become more comfortable forming sentences and responding in conversations.

Because you practise every day — in class and outside — what you learn is reinforced immediately. This leads to steady and visible progress throughout the programme.
Teachers closely guide your development, giving targeted feedback and corrections that help you improve quickly and avoid building bad habits.

By the end of the camp, you will notice a clear difference: you understand more, respond more easily, and participate more actively in conversations.

FAQ

1 . When is the best time to apply for a camp program?

We recommend applying as early as possible to secure a spot for your child, as spaces can fill up quickly. Ideally, applications should be submitted 3 to 6 months before the camp start date. This allows ample time for visa processing, preparation, and any additional paperwork. Early application also gives you priority in selecting session dates and ensures time for your child to get familiar with camp expectations.

2 . What are your teachers like? Are they native speakers?

Our teachers are highly qualified and experienced in teaching Mandarin to non-native speakers. All of them are native Chinese speakers, and hold certifications in teaching Mandarin as a second language. They are passionate about teaching and create a dynamic, engaging, and interactive learning environment. Their goal is to make language learning fun while helping each child develop confidence in using Mandarin in real-life situations.

3 . What is your program like?

Our program is designed to provide a well-rounded experience that combines language learning, cultural immersion, and outdoor adventures. Each day is structured to include a mix of Mandarin language classes, hands-on cultural activities, and fun recreational experiences. In the mornings, students participate in interactive Mandarin lessons tailored to their skill level, focusing on speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Afternoons are filled with activities like Chinese calligraphy, martial arts, traditional crafts, and excursions to local cultural sites. We also offer a variety of sports, team-building exercises, and creative workshops to ensure that campers have plenty of opportunities to explore new interests, build friendships, and stay active. Evenings feature social events such as campfires, talent shows, and games, creating a lively and supportive community atmosphere. Our goal is to foster personal growth, cultural understanding, and language proficiency, all while ensuring that campers have a memorable and enjoyable experience.

4 . My child doesn’t know any Chinese. Can we still apply for your program?

Absolutely! No prior knowledge of Chinese is required to join our program. We welcome children of all language levels, from complete beginners to more advanced speakers. Our Mandarin classes are designed to cater to different proficiency levels, so beginners will be placed in introductory courses where they can learn the basics of the language in a supportive and encouraging environment. Our teachers are experienced in working with children who are new to Mandarin and use interactive methods to make the learning process enjoyable and accessible. Your child will quickly gain confidence in learning and speaking Chinese, even with no prior experience.

5 . What visa do I need, and what is the visa application process like?

For most students, a tourist visa (L visa) is sufficient to attend our camp in China. We provide a detailed guide to help you through the visa application process, including an invitation letter from the camp and other required documentation. We recommend starting the application at least two months before your departure date. Our team is available to assist with any questions you may have and to ensure that all necessary paperwork is completed in time.

6 . What happens if my child gets sick?

If your child becomes ill during the camp, we have qualified medical staff on-site to provide immediate care. For more serious conditions, we are partnered with local hospitals and medical clinics to ensure that professional medical treatment is readily available. We will contact you immediately to keep you informed about your child’s condition and consult with you on any next steps. Our priority is the health and well-being of every camper, and we take all necessary precautions to ensure a safe recovery.

7 . Should I buy health insurance for my child?

Yes, we strongly recommend purchasing travel and health insurance for your child to cover any medical needs or emergencies that may arise during their stay in China. Health insurance will ensure that your child can receive proper medical care in case of illness or injury, and it provides peace of mind for you as a parent.

8 . What safety and security measures are in place at the camp location?

Our camp locations are fully secure, with restricted access and round-the-clock supervision by camp staff. Each building is equipped with security cameras and monitored by professional security personnel to ensure the safety of all campers. Boys and girls stay in separate accommodations, and counselors are always present to supervise. We conduct regular room checks and have strict protocols in place for fire safety, emergency evacuations, and other security measures to keep your child safe at all times.

9 . How do you maintain communication with parents during the camp?

We maintain regular communication with parents through various channels. Parents will receive daily or weekly updates via email or a mobile app, including photos and videos of their child’s activities. We also provide contact details of the camp director and key staff members, so parents can reach out at any time if they have concerns or questions. In case of any urgent matters, we will notify parents immediately. We understand how important it is for parents to feel connected while their child is away from home, so we ensure transparency and open communication.

10 . Is airport pickup available? How does it work?

Yes, we provide free airport pickup for campers attending the full boarding camp and homestay camp on their arrival day, for flights arriving at Shanghai Pudong International Airport between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Campers will be transferred directly to the camp site or their homestay family.
For arrivals outside these hours or on special dates, airport pickup can also be arranged for a small additional fee, ensuring a smooth and comfortable transfer.
Upon arrival at the airport, our staff will be waiting with clearly identifiable camp signs and will escort your child safely to the camp in supervised transportation. Once your child arrives, we will send a confirmation to let you know they have settled in.
Parents can rest assured that we handle all logistics from the moment your child lands until they are safely settled at the camp.
