Our kids absolutely loved their time at Silk Mandarin! We initially signed up for just one week due to visiting friends, but once we realized they were leaving midweek, I reached out to see if we could add three more days—and the team kindly accommodated us. Our kids begged to go back just to be with the amazing teachers and new friends they made.
Every teacher was incredibly supportive, patient, and kind—creating such a welcoming environment for all the children. The fun, well-organized field trips and the constant photo updates made the experience even more memorable for our whole family.
Whether you’re a beginner or more advanced, Silk Mandarin does a great job assessing each child and placing them in the right class. I highly recommend this camp to anyone looking to learn Mandarin in China—it’s not just educational, it’s an unforgettable adventure!

Silk Mandarin carefully assessed each of us, and designed our educational program for the individual needs of my family members. We made a lot of progress on our language goals, and the activities provided many opportunities to use new learning while exploring the city. The videos they provide are very useful when previewing and reviewing the lesson material.
Special mention to the staff who were all incredibly helpful. They worked hard to give us a memorable summer, and they succeeded!
Everything was beyond our expectations, and I would recommend this school to families and solo travelers alike.

Our daughter, who is 8 years old, had an absolutely incredible four weeks at Silk Mandarin! We were truly impressed by the progress she made in her Chinese – her language skills improved dramatically during her time there. The program not only focused on academics but also offered exciting weekly adventures that allowed her to explore the vibrant city of Shanghai. From cultural excursions to hands-on activities, these experiences enriched her learning and deepened her appreciation for the language and culture. We couldn’t be happier with her experience and the wonderful memories she created!

We had an amazing experience at the Mandarin summer camp! It totally exceeded our expectations! My son, an English speaker, had a blast in his Mandarin classes, where learning felt like playtime. The caring tutors made every lesson fun, and he loved all the cultural activities and city adventures.
The best part? He made friends from all over the world! We’ve even scheduled visits with his new friends! It was heartwarming to see him bond with other kids who share his love for Mandarin. Plus, his Chinese has improved so much—he’s now more confident and excited to practice at home and is even more willing to speak Mandarin!
I highly recommend this camp to other parents! It’s a perfect mix of fun, learning, and friendship. We can’t wait for next summer!

My son spent two weeks here studying Chinese, and the experience was fantastic!! The school, facilities, and staff are incredible. The school is located in a modern, clean, and well-maintained building.
Parents are always informed about what their kids do during the classes. They organize trips every week with the kids, which is fantastic and really good for them to improve their language. They make kids feel at home and happy. Beyond language skills, he’s also embracing the rich culture, making this a wonderful win-win for her personal growth and happiness. The program offers not only engaging Mandarin classes but also enriching field trips that provide real-life practice and cultural experiences.
I highly recommend the Silk Summer camp! Everything was perfect!

Silk mandarin has simply organised the staying of my son in Shanghai in a perfect way. First of all the communication was perfect and fluid. My son has improved his skills more then we could imagine. The meals and the activities were really well prepared. He went to city trips with Silk Mandarin staff too learn about the city. The people he has met has been extremely kind and took care of him in a great way. All I can say is thank you! And we will meet again next year.

Learn Through Use, Practice, and Play
At Silk Mandarin Kids Camp, children learn Chinese by using it — every day.
Through Mandarin immersion, hands-on activities, and our structured learning approach, campers quickly gain confidence and make visible progress throughout the programme.

Mandarin Immersion
Children are surrounded by Mandarin throughout the day — in lessons, activities, and daily interactions. By hearing and using Chinese in real situations, campers quickly build confidence and natural communication skills.

Learning by Doing
Children learn best by using language, not memorising it. Lessons include games, role-plays, teamwork, and real-life challenges that encourage active participation.
Through cultural activities, group missions, and practical tasks, campers practise Mandarin while exploring Chinese culture in a fun and engaging way.

Visible Progress
At Silk Mandarin, learning progress is carefully guided and monitored through our Learning Outcomes Assurance System.
Before the camp begins, students complete a placement assessment so they join the class that best matches their level. During the programme, teachers observe participation and communication in daily activities and provide regular feedback.
Daily learning reviews help reinforce new language, while a reward system encourages active participation, teamwork, and speaking Chinese throughout the camp. Parents receive updates during the programme, and the camp concludes with a final presentation where children showcase their progress.
