Grow in Mandarin — and in Confidence
Watch Sophia's Story
Mandarin skills - and the confidence to use them.
Teens develop pronunciation, pinyin, tones, vocabulary, and essential sentence patterns. From day one, they start using Chinese in simple conversations.

We are so grateful that our sons had the opportunity to attend this Chinese immersion summer camp! The teachers were incredibly nurturing and dedicated. Daily Mandarin practice sessions kept the kids fully engaged, and they loved the variety of activities. The camp’s facilities were clean, organized, and well-equipped.

Silk Mandarin’s summer camps have become a beloved tradition for my family. This is our third year sending my kids to China from Canada, who were 9 and 12 when they first attended. Initially, they knew hardly any Mandarin, but after just two weeks, their interest in the language blossomed.
I believe their love for Mandarin stems from two key factors. First, the camps are packed with fun and engaging activities that make learning a new language feel like an adventure. Second, the teachers are incredibly patient and supportive, which helped my kids build the confidence they needed to succeed.
Now, my children can comfortably hold daily conversations in Mandarin. My son even challenged himself to be the MC at the closing ceremony this year!! I wholeheartedly recommend Silk Mandarin’s summer camps to any parents looking for an inspiring and effective way for their children to learn a new language.

Our child was absolutely happy about the whole experience. Silk Mandarin personnel is exceptional not only in organizing everything well but also has a high level of integrity.
The camp was a great mixture of study, fun and cultural events. Everything was well organized: accommodation, curriculum, daily getaways, food and social interactions.
Highly recommend for families looking for immersive experience in China!

After studying at Silk Mandarin myself for over a year, I decided to spend this summer in China and bring my 13-year-old son along. While I continued with my adult classes, I enrolled him in Silk Mandarin’s Teen Summer Camp—first at their Shanghai day program and then at the overnight camp in Qingdao. It turned out to be one of the best decisions we’ve made.
My son was eager to travel and explore but wasn’t exactly thrilled at the idea of spending part of his summer learning a new language—especially Mandarin, which was completely new to him. But Silk Mandarin changed all of that. Their brilliant mix of language immersion, cultural activities, and adventurous outings sparked something in him.
He loved it. So much so that as I’m writing this review, he’s already asking if we can extend our stay—or sign him up for another camp in the future. After his Qingdao presentation, on the train ride back to Shanghai, he opened his Mandarin notebook and started practicing phrases on his own. He even asked me how to write characters. That moment said everything.
Silk Mandarin didn’t just teach him a language—they created an experience that was inspiring, empowering, and truly unforgettable. They’ve built something very special here, and I’m deeply grateful. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. This summer was more than we ever expected.

I am very satisfied with the Mandarin Immersion Summer Camp at Silk Mandarin.
The teachers are highly experienced, the lessons are fun and culturally enriching, the classroom environment is comfortable, and I’ve had the chance to meet friends from all over the world.
Most importantly, I’ve become much more confident in speaking Mandarin.
Thank you, Silk Mandarin!

The Silk Mandarin Shanghai Summer Camp was a very pleasant, and enriching experience. In the camp, we were able to learn a large variety of topics in not only the Chinese language, but Chinese culture as well. Not only that, every staff member was helpful, and always tried to provide help to the students in any way they could. 100’s across the board!

This is my 10 year old son first camp on his own and abroad. There were plenty of teachers and staffs so he can easily reach out. The room was hotel standard and twin bed sharing with another boy. The language class was split into small groups so he had lots of chance to practice.
There were various types of activities which has kept him excited for the whole 2 weeks. Also, the field trip was super cool with a mixture of old city excursions, shopping, musuems and the best is the water park!! There are lots of photos every day which made me feel relief. And to end the camp, there is a showcase session for the parent to see how the children has improved with their Mandarin.
My boy was happy and very comfortable with everything the camp prepared. He also requested to come back again next year! Well done to the Silk Mandarin team!
Ann (Hong Kong, China)
Silk Mandarin’s Summer Camp was a fantastic experience for my child. This is our 2nd year joining their summer camp. Last year we joined the Day Camp and he enjoyed it so much that we joined the full camp this year.
He enjoys the cultural activities, city adventures, and practicing Mandarin in real-life situations. Special shout-out to the staff as well. They were friendly, patient, and incredibly welcoming. They were really attentive and answered any questions you may have promptly, so I never had to worry about him while he was at camp.
It’s a fun, immersive way to learn Chinese language and culture—I’d absolutely recommend it to other parents!
Learn Through Action
At Teens Camp, students actively apply what they learn through structured lessons, guided practice, and continuous use of Mandarin throughout the camp, helping them make visible progress throughout the programme.
Interactive Mandarin Lessons
Lessons are built around active participation and practical language use. In small international groups, students practise new vocabulary and sentence patterns through conversation, pair work, role-play, and teacher-guided interaction.
A Clear Learning Path
Before camp starts, students complete a placement assessment to join the right level. Teachers then guide progress step by step through structured lessons, daily review, and continuous speaking practice.
Grow More Independent — With the Right Support
Teens Camp encourages students to step outside their comfort zone, discover a new culture, and grow more independent within a safe, structured, and supportive environment.
As the programme progresses, teens gradually become more confident navigating new situations, communicating with others, and taking initiative in everyday life in China.
A Safe and Supportive Environment
Experienced teachers and camp staff provide supervision, guidance, and daily support during lessons, excursions, activities, and accommodation arrangements.
Confidence Through Experience
Living and learning in a new environment helps teens become more adaptable, self-assured, and comfortable handling unfamiliar situations independently.
Growing Step by Step
The programme encourages teens to take responsibility, communicate more proactively, and gradually feel more at ease in an international environment.
